Our family acquired the Natural Food Center (NFC) August 24, 2009, continuing a tenured and successful tradition of service to our community started by Horace and June Cooke. It is amazing to think that the Center has now been in continuous operation for more than 40 years. We love hearing the stories of customers who have been patrons of the store throughout its history and we love seeing the response of first-time visitors. It is really fun to see the past and present come together in such a positive way.

Over the last eighteen months, we have expanded our restaurant capacity for one seating to 118 and in a few weeks, our new kitchen will be complete. A new register system is on order to help you check out quickly at lunch and we are now fully licensed for fresh organic produce (fruits and vegetables). Last week we set a new record with your help---179 people joined us for lunch.

We appreciate your support so much and we are really proud that all of you who join us for lunch are now able to source through us the fresh produce, grass fed and all natural meat, poultry and seafood that we use every day to create delicious food for you. If you need suggestions on preparation or if you are interested in a cooking class, just let us know.

We know how important it is to offer the highest quality products at prices you can afford. Over the last eighteen months, more than 2000 people have taken advantage of our customer “punch” cards, getting credit for every purchase made at the Center and earning $20 each time a card is completed.

And, now, we want to make our pricing and product programs even better for you and give you a chance to have some fun as well.

We want to express our gratitude for the support of the Big Country of our locally owned small business. We understand that you have many choices about where you shop and what you buy.

We will now be open for brunch/lunch every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 2:30. Our regular lunch menu will be offered along with new breakfast and brunch items as well as specials that you have told us you love---grass-fed tenderloin of beef sandwiches, turkey ciabattas, Betty Bowls and stuffed avocados, salmon salad and patties and more.

If you are planning a picnic, let us pack it for you this summer. One of our favorite stories at the Center is about a young man who had us pack a picnic at which he proposed to his future bride. We are catering their rehearsal dinner and, we hope, many happy anniversaries to come.

Customers who regularly shop at the Center and participate in our e-mail newsletters and customer “punch” card program will enjoy everyday low pricing on everything in stock including:

Organic produce (fruits and vegetables), grass-fed beef, natural pork and lamb, chicken and turkey as well as dairy, artisan and organic breads, pitas and tortillas, pastas, grains, cereals and rice, premium wines, ales & beer (traditional and gluten-free), raw sugar, stevia & sweeteners, local honey, gourmet and organic spices and flavorings, olive and other specialty oils, everything for baking, organic juices and drinks, candies, cookies, chips and snacks, household cleaning products, bath and beauty, vitamins and supplements and gift items like Life is Good, Quotable Cards, Hannah Blue fused glass jewelry and more.

Just bring your customer card when you shop or ask us to keep it on file for you and enjoy the benefits of your support of the Center.

Customers who participate in this program are now also eligible for delivery of groceries ($50 minimum) on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from 3-6 p.m. You will be able to e-mail or call in your list and we will bring it to you. If you need a Grab & Go meal on those days, just add it to the list. We now have Chef Salads, Spinach Salads, Hummus, Chicken Salad, Chicken Avocado Sprout Sandwiches, Tomato Basil Soup, our Signature Dill Dressing and Pimento Cheese in our Grab & Go cooler.

We will send a complete organic grocery market list to you via e-mail on which you may indicate the items that you are interested in purchasing and add to the list anything that we’ve missed. Call 325-673-2726 and ask for Melanie to discuss special needs.

We made it our goal to have everything you need to prepare every meal you want to cook and when you don’t want to cook, to make it easy to take out or eat with us. Every week we share new recipes on-line and in our newsletter so you can recreate and improve upon our menu at home.

Sue and I tested the feasibility of cooking our entire Thanksgiving meal from the Natural Food Center and it worked. So, we cleaned out everything at home that came from another place over the last five months and now we supply our own home exclusively from the Center (except for Timmy’s dog food and that is coming!) Now it is your turn to get the best ingredients for your own meals.

We are so honored that you’ve joined us for lunch, for your anniversary and birthday celebrations, rehearsal dinners, picnics and marriage proposals and baby showers. We would love to cater your events and have expanded our kitchen to make this possible. This weekend we will release our new catering menu and are excited about offering gourmet appetizers and meals in the Big Country.

Also, please know that if you present your active NFC customer card and your container for the same branded vitamin or supplement that we sell from any other Big Country supplier, we will match their price. We understand that you need to compare prices and get the best deal for your household and we are committed to meeting your needs.
